Best Class in AION 2

Not 'who is strongest' but 'who fits you'. Find the best AION 2 class for PvP, PvE, solo, beginners and more.

Method

Why there is no single best class

AION 2 has no class that wins every context. The eight classes fill different roles, and the role a class fills is worth a different amount depending on whether you are soloing, running organized raids, or duelling.

Step 01
Name the content

Writing down what you will actually do — solo questing, dungeon crawling, organized raids, PvP, or a mix — removes most of the ambiguity. Most arguments about which class is best are really arguments about which content someone had in mind.

Step 02
Check the role

Once the content is fixed, the archetype question answers itself. If you play with other people, Tanks and Healers are never a bad investment. If you play alone, self-sufficiency outranks the role label completely.

Step 03
Check forgiveness

Last filter is difficulty. Tier letters describe value in a group; difficulty describes how quickly you die while learning. A Hard class that you enjoy beats an Easy class that bores you, but an Easy class that you understand beats a Hard class that you abandon in a week.

L3Rankings are community-consensus role analysis built from the same dataset published on each class page. They are not official NCSOFT balance numbers and they move with patches.L1The eight class identities and their role archetypes come from NCSOFT official class announcements and are not in dispute.

What if my favourite class is not at the top?

Then play it. Tier letters measure group utility in a specific context, not how much fun a class is. Nothing on this site should push you off a class you want to play — use the matrix to know what you are trading away, then decide for yourself.

Do I have to commit before I start playing?

You can test a class before committing, and that is the sensible route. Pick something Easy as your first character, learn the systems on a forgiving rotation, then use the compare tool when you are ready to decide what to main.

Is this page updated when patches land?

Yes. The matrix is generated directly from the class data layer, so there is no separate ranking to forget to update. When a balance patch changes a class and we re-check it, the letter changes everywhere on the site at once.

Best PvP Class

Assassin for burst kills and Gladiator for durability. Cleric changes organized fights with heals.

Best PvE Class

Ranger and Sorcerer lead PvE damage, while Cleric and Templar are always in demand for groups.

Best Solo Class

Gladiator and Spiritmaster farm safely alone with strong damage and self-sufficiency.

About these picks

Picks are community consensus, not official rankings. Balance patches can change the meta — choose the role fantasy you enjoy.

FAQ
What does "best class" mean in AION 2?

It depends entirely on what you plan to do, so this page never gives one universal answer. We rank classes separately for PvE, PvP, solo play, and beginner friendliness, then show the top three in each. If two classes tie, the class page explains why rather than picking a winner for you.

Is the top-ranked class here the strongest class in the game?

Not necessarily. A class can top our PvE ranking because of group value and survivability rather than raw damage. That is why every class also carries separate PvP, solo, and group letters, and why the ranking on this page is split by intent instead of one leaderboard.

Which class should I pick if I only play solo?

Focus on the solo column rather than the group column. Solo ranking rewards survivability and consistent clear speed, because you have no healer assigned and no one to hold aggro for you. Classes that depend on a coordinated party tend to fall sharply in that column.

Do I need to reroll if my class gets balance changes?

Rarely. Classes here stay viable across tiers because the ranking reflects role value, not a single patch spike. Balance patches can move a class by one tier, and we re-check the roster when official patch notes land. If you want the reasoning behind a specific class, its class page has the detail.

How do I check the numbers behind these picks?

Every recommendation on this site resolves back to fields already published on the class pages: archetype, difficulty, four tier letters, three qualitative ratings, and the beginner note. Nothing here is a separate opinion — it is the same dataset reorganised around your intent.
